The biggest risk to jewellery businesses right now is buying undisclosed laboratory-grown diamonds second hand from the public.
Undisclosed laboratory-grown diamonds are on the rise. As well as being unknowingly traded from business to business, many are being sold back into the market by consumers within second-hand goods. Valuers, pawnbrokers and auction houses are now seeing these products every day. Are you prepared to identify these stones?
Join my practical workshop and gain valuable hands-on experience in identifying laboratory-grown diamonds using simple testing tools. These skills can save you ££££s by avoiding buying mistakes (and save you reputation!). Get the confidence you crave by attending my specially designed one-day workshop for jewellery industry professionals and students. View and test 50+ samples of laboratory-grown diamonds that display all the possible identification features for these stones. My identification techniques will give you the ability to identify 95% of loose laboratory-grown diamonds that come your way. "An outstanding course. The challenge of separating Laboratory-grown Diamonds from natural, mined stones was de-mystified; and proof too that standard gemmological techniques will get you the results you need. If you are a valuer, a business owner or a jewellery professional then this is a 'must attend' course. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Thoroughly enjoyable day led by an engaging and knowledgeable tutor. Faultless. I would definitely be interested in other courses put together by The Gem Academy."

"A very intense day of theory and practical that managed to cover a huge amount of ground without leaving anyone bewildered or overwhelmed, and yet we delved deep on all aspects of LGDs. Excellent facilities and catering, combined with a manageable class-size, plenty of equipment and very comprehensive stone sets, all played a part in an incredible day of learning that boosted my knowledge and confidence considerably...it was a fabulous day."
Charles Evans

"5-star workshop for anyone wanting to learn how to identify laboratory-grown diamonds.
Great day, perfect content and, as always, extremely helpful."

"Really excellent one-day course - lots of information, wide range of stones and equipment, and great guidebook to take away for reference later. As a former [Gem-A] diamond diploma student of Julia’s, I can vouch for her brilliant teaching methods and, as usual, she has organised the essential information into a clear, concise and very helpful step-by-step approach.
The course is quite unique and cheap given the unequalled content. GIA advanced lab-grown diamond is a 2-day course, online seminar (so no practical which I think is critical) and $995. They also offer a 2-hour seminar for $195...."

"If you work with diamonds, unless you've already done this workshop, you need to do this workshop. You don't have time to research and learn all this stuff yourself. Julia hands it to you on a plate. It's not cheap, but it's exceptional value for money, and in the long run will save you time, money and stress.
It was simply excellent... I left having the confidence I wanted. Julia has spent years researching and gaining experience, to distill it down into one day, so I didn't have to."
Kerry Gregory

"The course was excellent. We learnt a lot about how to differentiate synthetic diamonds from natural using simple tools that most people in the industry have access to.
Really an excellent day, Julia is full of information, has a great disposition and makes it all fun, interesting and useful."

"Synthetic diamonds are on the rise and have flooded the market. The best way to learn is hands-on and this course does just that. I took the online course. This practical put everything together. I’d definitely take it again!"
Mara Hotung

"If anyone has any interest in Diamonds or Gemstones, I highly recommend attending this workshop. As a new student in gemology, this workshop ( 1 Day) fits perfect with my current job and commitments. More importantly, we students have learned key information on laboratory-grown diamonds and their identification from a World Expert."

"I would really recommend this course to others. It was great to recap some theory information from the online course [Ultimate guide to laboratory-grown diamonds], but to focus on handling and identifying synthetic diamonds from their natural counterparts was invaluable. I feel so much more confident in handling them now on a day-to-day basis, and in my ability to identify them from natural diamonds.
I really enjoyed the day! It was so well structured, clear and concise and the information provided was all extremely useful. The information book provided is also really useful! There was plenty of time to practice what had been discussed, and I felt the group size was perfect - we had plenty of time to individually discuss questions with Julia while we were working!"
Ruth Davis

"I could not recommend the workshop more highly. If you are working in the jewellery industry and are faced with the increasing issues surrounding natural or synthetic diamond identification then this one day course is invaluable.
Thank you so much Julia for a wonderful day. I think the amount of people on the course was perfect and enabled us to have many interesting discussions throughout the day. Fabulous light and airy location and really impressed at the amount of synthetic diamonds that were available to view. Thank you."

"Julia's workshop is an essential for anyone working (valuing, buying, selling) with diamonds. The workshop is clear and concise. Julia splits the learning all into bitesize pieces and makes learning very down to earth and very understandable.
A very good amount of time is given to look at lots of different laboratory-grown diamonds, with [an example of] almost every scenario one might come across. There is a great amount of time also on different screeners and tools. Practical experience counts for a lot when looking at these lab-grown diamonds, I found handing the screeners most helpful.
Julia's online course is also a great learning tool, as all of the course is available at any time you may require it. I have now done both courses together- online course [Ultimate guide to laboratory-grown diamonds] and the practical workshop, and this has resulted in great confidence.
Julia is very approachable and any questions she is happy to answer. Julia's energy and knowledge is infectious and I highly recommend this course to you all."

"Very professional, comprehensive and friendly event. Interesting cross-section of students and absolutely worth attending. The main thing I found out was that the online course [Ultimate guide to laboratory-grown diamonds] was most comprehensive and it was wonderful to be able to put it all into practice using real stones."
